Brentwood School District, established on March 3, 1920 shortly after the founding of the City of Brentwood, is a highly rated public education system located in the heart of St. Louis County which includes the City of Brentwood and portions of surrounding areas. The district covers just over two square miles, encompassing suburban neighborhoods, major retail areas, and businesses. Just minutes away from the County seat, major universities, parks, and other community resources, Brentwood offers small community charm with big city resources and attractions.

As the “Home of the Eagles,” Brentwood School District offers high-quality programs, resources, and opportunities to adapt to the ever-changing needs of students and families. The district’s five schools - Early Childhood Center, Mark Twain and McGrath Elementary Schools (K-5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12) - collectively enroll more than 800 students who compete nationally with their peers in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities. The Brentwood School District ranks No. 5 among all public school districts in Missouri for academic excellence and No. 11 for the best places to teach in the state, according to the 2023 Niche K-12 School and District Rankings. The district earned an A+ overall rating, based on Niche’s compilation of statistics and opinions from students and families.

The Superintendent, Board of Education and school personnel work closely together with members of the Brentwood community to ensure the continuous improvement of the district. Over the past 5 years, the district has updated its facilities to address critical needs. In April 2018, the community passed Prop B, a no-tax increase bond for new construction and renovation at the middle and high schools. In June 2020 voters approved Prop E, a modest tax increase, which provided funding to completely rebuild McGrath Elementary with space to house Brentwood Early Childhood Center and to renovate Mark Twain. The construction is anticipated to be completed by May 2024.
